Donald P. Frush, MD, FSPR, FACR, FSABI, FAAP
Dr. Frush is the John Strohbehn Professor of Radiology, an Associate Faculty Member, Medical Physics Graduate Program, and an Affiliate for the Duke Global Health Institute at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Frush’s research interests are predominantly pediatric body CT, including technology assessment, techniques for pediatric CT examinations, assessment of image quality, radiation dosimetry, radiation protection and risk communication in medical imaging. He is currently the chair of the Image Gently Alliance and has roles/engagement with NCRP, National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, International Society of Radiology, IAEA and WHO.

Ehsan Samei, PhD, DABR, FAAPM, FSPIE, FAIMBE, FIOMP, FACR
Dr. Samei is a Persian-American medical physicist. He is the Reed and Martha Rice Distinguished Professor of Radiology, and Professor of Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, USA. He serves as the Chief Imaging Physicist for Duke University Health System, the Director of the Carl E Ravin Advanced Imaging Laboratories and the Center for Virtual Imaging Trials, and Co-Director of the Triangle Centers of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation. He applies his expertise in medical physics and in silico methods to enable and accelerate patient-centric care through innovative design, human-guided use of AI, and compassionate practice.

Madan M. Rehani, PhD, FICNM, FIOMP, IIUPESM
Dr. Rehani is Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Radiation Protection Outreach Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA. Former President of IUPESM (2022–2025) and IOMP (2018–2022). Served 11 years as senior staff at the IAEA, and earlier as Professor and Head of Medical Physics and the Head, WHO Collaborating Center on Imaging Technology and Radiation Protection in India. Was a Member of ICRP for 24 years; author of eight Annals of the ICRP, four as Chair and lead author. Senior Editor, British Journal of Radiology, Associate Editor, European Journal of Medical Physics. Author of over 200 publications, 40 book chapters, editor of five books, and recipient of numerous awards.

Jim Malone, PhD, FIPEM, MA, FFR
Dr. Malone is Robert Boyle Professor (Emeritus) of Medical Physics and was Dean of the School of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. He works/worked regularly with organisations, including WHO, IAEA, ICRP, IEC, EC. He has a broad interest in the humanities, and is a governor of several active charities. He was awarded an honorary Fellowship in radiology, and the EFOMP medal for exceptional contributions to medical physics. He has many peer reviewed publications and is particularly proud of three books: Ethics for Radiation Protection in Medicine; Mystery and the Culture of Science; and an almost true memoir, Tales from the Ivory Tower, published by Liffey Press.

John Damilakis, PhD, FIOMP, FIUPESM
Dr. Damilakis is a Professor and Director of Medical Physics at the University of Crete and University Hospital of Heraklion, Greece. He has served as president of IOMP, EFOMP, European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research (EURAMED), and the Hellenic Association of Medical Physics. Prof. Damilakis is an elected member of ICRP Committee 3, vice president of IUPESM, and part of the EuroSafe Imaging Campaign’s steering committee. He was a Visiting Professor at Boston University on medical dosimetry and radiation protection. His research covers dosimetry, radiation protection, and AI in medical imaging, with 282 PubMed-listed articles. He has received numerous awards for his work..

Mika Kortesniemi, PhD
Dr Mika Kortesniemi is the Chief Medical Physicist and Adjunct Professor
at the HUS Diagnostic Center, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. His professional, teaching and research focus is on the quality assurance, radiation dosimetry, optimisation and radiation protection in x-ray imaging, especially related to the computed tomography and utilisation of artificial intelligence. Dr Kortesniemi is actively involved in international collaboration e.g. with IAEA, ICRP, IOMP, EFOMP and ESR. Dr Kortesniemi is an elected member of the International Council of Radiation Protection (ICRP) Committee 3 (Medicine).

Graciano Paulo, PhD
Dr. Paulo is Full Professor and President of ESTeSC-IPC, Coimbra Health School, Coimbra Health School, Portugal, and the Head of the WHO Collaborative Centre for radiation protection and health of ESTeSC-IPC. He is President of the European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research (EURAMED), Past President of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS), and Radiation Protection Committee member of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE). He chairs the “Ask EUROSAFE Imaging” of the European Society of Radiology. He is the Work Package Leader of the EU project RHYTHM (Radiation, Health, Safety and Quality for Youth).

Marco Brambilla,PhD
Dr. Brambilla is the Head of the Medical Physics Department of the University Hospital of Novara and six General Hospitals in Piedmont, Italy. He is a Professor at the University of East Piedmont (BSc Radiographers) and the University of Turin (Specialization in Medical Physics), and a vice director for a master’s program in radioactive waste management. He was President of EFOMP and chair of the European School for Medical Physics Experts. He has served as an IAEA expert on multiple missions. Dr. Brambilla is a senior editor for the British Journal of Radiology and associate editor for Physica Medica. His research covers nuclear medicine instrumentation, X-ray dose estimation, patient radiation protection, and medical statistics.

M. Mahesh, PhD, FAAPM, FACR, FACMP, FSCCT, FIOMP, FIUPESM
Dr. Mahesh is Professor of Radiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, USA. His research interests are in medical imaging, artificial intelligence and radiation communication. Dr Mahesh is an elected member of the International Council of Radiation Protection (ICRP) Committee 3 (Medicine). He serves as subject matter expert to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and to United Nation Scientific Committee on Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR).Dr Mahesh is currently Vice-President for the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) and Board Chair for the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

Roberto M. Sánchez Casanueva, PhD
Dr. Sánchez is a Medical Physics (diagnostic and interventional radiology) at the Hospital Clínico Universitario San Carlos, and Associate Professor at the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He is a member of the Group of Experts referred to in Article 31 of the Euratom Treaty, member of the Radiation Protection subcommittee of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), and member of the EFOMP Education & Training Committee. He has served as an IAEA expert on multiple missions.

Sebastien Gros, PhD, DABR
Dr. Gros is Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Loyola University Chicago, USA. His clinical and research work focuses on imaging dose optimization in radiotherapy, CBCT dosimetry, adaptive radiotherapy, intraoperative radiotherapy, and cumulative patient exposure management. He leads multidisciplinary initiatives integrating radiation oncology and imaging physics to advance quantitative imaging dose assessment and optimization in clinical practice. Dr. Gros serves as Chair of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Government and Regulatory Affairs Committee, contributes to ACR Technical Standards and Practice Parameters, and participates in ICRP Task Group 116 and Committee 3’s Working Party on New Technologies.

Slavik Tabakov PhD, Dr h.c., FIPEM, FHEA, FIOMP, FIUPESM
Dr Tabakov is a British-Bulgarian academic. He was IOMP President (2015-2018) and IUPESM Vice-President (2018-2022). He has supported medical physics education and professional growth in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America for over 30 years and hashelped the development of 18 Master programmes in various countries. Before his retirement he built the largest in Europe Medical Physics MSc at King’s College London. Since 2000 he is Co-Director of the ICTP College on Medical Physics. He led the projects pioneering e-learning in the profession and the first e-Encyclopaedia of Medical Physics with Scientific Dictionary in 31 languages. He established the IOMP Journal “Medical Physics International” and is co-author of 18 textbooks. For his activities he has received numerous awards.

Mohammad Hassan Kharita, PhD
Dr. Kharita is a Medical Physics and Radiation Safety Specialist from Doha, Qatar, leading radiation safety and medical physics services at Hamad Medical Corporation’s 16 hospitals. He has shaped national regulatory frameworks and radiological emergency systems, served as a Radiation Safety Consultant for the IAEA (2014–2015), and participated as an expert in over 45 IAEA missions. Formerly Director of Research at the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, he holds a Ph.D. in Radiation Dosimetry and an M.Sc. in Applied Radiation Physics from the University of Birmingham. His leadership includes roles as the current President of the Middle East Federation of Medical Physics (MEFOMP) and Treasurer of IOMP (2025–2028).

Krasimir Dzhinsov, MD
Krasimir Dzhinsov is a cardiologist, electrophysiologist, and the Executive Director of the National Heart Hospital in Sofia, the largest cardiovascular center in Bulgaria. He completed his electrophysiology fellowship at the National Heart Hospital in Sofia and has gained extensive experience through training in leading electrophysiology laboratories across Europe.
Dr. Dzhinsov holds the Full Certificate in Cardiac Electrophysiology from the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). He served as Bulgaria’s National Ambassador for the EHRA Young EP group from 2020 to 2024. Currently, he is President of the National Heart Rhythm Society of Bulgaria and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).

Dr. Hristo F. Mateev, MD, PhD
Dr. Mateev is an interventional cardiologist at the National Cardiology Hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria, and former Head of the Invasive Cardiology Department. His clinical work focuses on complex coronary, structural heart, and peripheral aortic interventions. He earned a PhD in Public Health with research dedicated to national cardiovascular registries. Dr. Mateev has hands-on experience with the Bulgarian interventional cardiology registry active until 2018 and is currently involved in the development of a new national registry, emphasising standardised collection and analysis of radiation exposure data in interventional cardiology.
REPRESENTATIVES OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS

Vesna Gershan, PhD – Representative of IAEA
Dr Gershan is a Radiation Protection Specialist at the Radiation Protection of Patients Unit of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. Prior to joining the IAEA, she was a university professor and clinically certified medical imaging physicist in Skopje, North Macedonia. Her experience spans over two decades in medical physics and patient radiation protection, including optimisation of imaging protocols. Dr Gershan has been actively involved in several EFOMP working groups on development of quality control protocols. She served as a member of the ECR Scientific Subcommittee of Physics in Radiology from 2016 to 2018 and chaired the committee in 2020.

Napapong Pongnapang, PhD – Representative of ISRRT
Dr. Pongnapang is an Associate Professor at Mahidol University in Thailand and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences at Monash University in Australia. He currently serves as President of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists, President of the Thailand Radiological Technologist Professional Board, and a committee member of the Thai Medical Physicist License Board. His research interests include diagnostic radiology physics applications and patient dosimetry. He is actively involved in international education, professional development, and multiple IAEA projects as an external expert, supporting global training, capacity building, and quality improvement initiatives in radiology worldwide.

Sarah E. McKenney, PhD, DABR – Representative of Image Gently
Dr. Sarah E. McKenney is the Chief of the Medical Physics Division and Associate Professor of Radiology at UC Davis Health, Sacramento, USA. She serves as a steering committee member of Image Gently. A board-certified diagnostic medical physicist, Dr. McKenney brings over a decade of experience in pediatric and adult imaging, quality assurance, and radiation safety. Dr. McKenney is an active national leader, currently chairing the ACR CT Dose Index Registry and multiple AAPM committees. Her work focuses on advancing patient safety, optimizing imaging protocols, and improving radiation communication.
